Don’t Lose Heart, Shift Your Focus

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Greetings after teaching last month on Victory; and how you already have the victory in every area of our life.  Please keep your faith ignited in your Victory through Christ Jesus.

Now, I am super excited to share with you the word the Lord has given me; “SHIFT” for this month of August.  As we are now experiencing a great shift and the world’s normal is no more; there is a new normal.  The good news is that although the world has changed, God remains the same and His word is unchangeable. Paul reminds us in these few verses not to lose heart in verse 16.  No matter what we are experiencing in this world, we do not belong to this world we belong to the God who is in charge of this world.

The way to accomplish this is to keep your heart for God alone. Let your desires be set on pleasing Him. In verse 17 Paul reminds us that our trouble (afflictions) are only for a moment; meaning they will not last!  Do you remember the last time you were faced with something that you did not know how to handle?  You probably believed you could not handle it, but God had a way of shifting something in your life and bringing you through. God is faithful and says the weight of your trouble is working for you a far greater weight of His glory for you when the trouble is over. What I am saying is; get into the shift. Its time to shift all your worry to worship. “Worship gets you through the hardest times in your life because it shifts your focus from the problem to the Problem Solver”.  Worship brings you into agreement with God’s sovereign power. You are not agreeing with the trouble; you are agreeing with your solution, which is God.

And finally, Paul deals with our focus in verse 18. Paul says do not look at the things that are seen they are temporary (especially the problems of this world), they are God’s problems. He allows trials to come into our lives to put our eyes on Him even MORE! and make us remember Who it is that we need.

We must learn to shift our focus to God. In the good. In the bad, and everywhere in between. I feel that when we do this, we start changing. When we focus on Him, we start to become more like Him. We are so grateful for the trails in our life, as they have just made me stronger in Him.

In Closing; “SHIFT” by giving God your whole heart, worship Him continuously, Focus on God, not problems , and you will be transformed to be more like Him.

The God Who Forgives

Matthew 6:9-13   In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done; On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen

Jesus Christ gave us, His followers a pattern for prayer that includes seeking forgiveness daily. The invitation to regular repentance is not a means of renewing our salvation, but rather a restoration plan for our fellowship with the Lord. When we trust Jesus as our Savior, our sins are forgiven forever. The stains from our past, present, and future wrongs are wiped from our record; however, we’re a fallen people so we do continue to commit sin.

With the exception of Jesus, no person is perfect. Sin is simply a fact of human life. The Lord’s payment for our transgressions means that we can look forward to an eternity spent in God’s presence instead of getting the punishment we deserve. On this side of heaven, though, we still have to contend with our tendency to do wrong–and we must also deal with the consequences.

God’s grace is not a license to sin; instead, it’s a reason to pursue righteousness. Bad attitudes, thoughtless actions, and unkind speech do not fit who we are as children of light. We’re new creatures in Christ (2Cor. 5:17), bought for a price (1Cor 6:20) and set free (Jn 8:36) to live as partakers of His grace.

Salvation makes a way for us to enter God’s presence, while regular confession and repentance keep the pathway well maintained and free of obstruction (1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.).
